Recent trend setter ’Saranga Dhariya’ song from Sekhar Kammula directorial ‘Love Story’ took al the spotlight with the controversy around the claims made by original singer Komala and the songwriter Sudhala Ashok Teja.
While the former claimed that the song which was originally collected and sung by her was taken into the movie and was not given proper credit, writer Ashok Teja served a legal notice that no single person can claim a folk song. The issue now landed at the director Sekhar Kammula who maintains a safe distance from controversies.
Issuing a clarification from his end, the ‘Fida’ director revealed that it is Komala who was the first singer his team approached to sing the song in the film but was declined due to personal issues. ‘She asked for credits and money for which we said okay,” Kammula added.
Agreeing that the issue didn’t reach him as he was busy in the post-production works of the movie, Sekhar has assured to do justice to Komali for promoting the folk song which is now all over social media.
