A high tension situation erupted at the Tehsildar’s office in the Marriguda zone, Nalgonda district on Friday. People are condemning the distribution of Kalyana Lakshmi checks by a former TRS MLA, instead of being done by the current local MLA. The Congress sarpanches in the constituency held a protest.
Getting into the details, recently, Kalyana Lakshmi checks were sanctioned to 103 people across the region. On Friday, former MLA Kusukuntla along with Prabhakar Reddy went door-to-door to the tehsildar beneficiaries and distributed checks. However, MLA Rajagopal Reddy questioned the purpose of distributing the checks by the former MLA Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy.
The sarpanches bashed the tehsildar, calling him a puppet of the ruling party government. They aggressively criticized this deed, adding that the former MLA shouldn’t have to do this job when it is the responsibility of the current MLA. While there are a total of 20 villages in the zone, 16 of them have Congress members. Sarpanches of the Congress party have expressed outrage over the distribution of checks through the former TRS MLA, but not a local Congress MLA.
They demanded an immediate suspension of tehsildar Puspalatha, who had flouted the rules and acted arbitrarily. On learning the matter, Police reached the tehsildar’s office and avoided dharna. This created a tense situation there. The event was attended by Congress sarpanches from 16 villages in the zone.
