Supreme Court judge Justice Arun Mishra landed himself in trouble after delivering the vote of thanks at the inauguration of the International Judicial Conference 2020 on Friday. Justice Mishra who is third in the seniority at the Apex court went all praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, terming him as an internationally acclaimed visionary. Addressing the challenges faced by the judiciary at the national and international levels, he lauded the PM and Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad for doing away with 1,500 obsolete laws.
“Dignified human existence is our prime concern. Modi ji is a versatile genius who thinks globally and acts locally,” he added while expressing gratitude to the PM for inaugurating the conference. Justice Mishra then stated that India has been a responsible and most friendly member of the international community under the stewardship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Both Modi and minister Shankar Prasad were present at the event.
In no time, social media flooded with trolls and messages condemning Justice Mishra’s statement praising Modi. While one of the netizens opined that the statement proved that Indian Judiciary is compromised. “Blot of extreme sycophancy,” read another tweet. While a few of the netizens reminded Justice Mishra’s statements that- “there is no law left in this country. It is better not to live in this country and rather leave the country. I am anguished. I feel I should not work in this court.”
