A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on the issues of the Kaleswaram project’s compensation and problems faced by the displaced people. The Supreme Court has issued notices to the Telangana and Central Governments. All the original owners of the lands have filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the expansion of the Kaleshwaram project.
The court announced that the six petitions filed in the Supreme Court will be heard simultaneously. The next hearing has been adjourned to July 27.
On the other hand, the central government has made important comments on the Kaleswaram project. It has been decided that Kaleswaram cannot be given national project status. The central government has revealed that the Kaleshwaram project does not have the necessary qualifications to get such a stature.
Meanwhile, the state government has not taken the most important investment clearance for the project, and therefore it has been clarified on the stage of Parliament that it cannot be given national status.
