Before the health experts in the Telugu states heaved a sigh of relief over the steady decrease in the number of corona cases, the pattern in the last couple days raised concerns in the fraternity.
While AP, one of the states recording the highest number of cases ever since the pandemic hit the country has been registering a slight increase in cases, many experts speculated it to be the genesis of the second wave.
In the line of a recent study medical experts are expecting a surge in Covid-19 cases as people would be off guard during the festive season and the onset of winter may aggravate the situation. Further worsening the situation, winter is fast approaching which increases the risk of getting infected.
Besides closely monitoring the pandemic, the health authorities of the respective states started issuing advisories to the public to take all possible precautions, including masks, social distancing and to avoid celebrations with festive season right around the corner.
They have also assured that the respective state governments ready with enough number of bed strength, healthcare staff, oxygen and ICU availability to meet the requirement in case of a sudden surge. Coming to the COVID numbers, Telangana on Wednesday logged 1,637 new infections while the total tally touched 2.44 lakh.
Six more people succumbed to the virus, pushing the death toll to 1,357. Andhra Pradesh, on the other hand, has been reporting a steady rise in cases while 2,477 new cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday. While 75,465 samples were tested in the 24 hours while 2,477 cases came out positive. 10 more patients succumbed to the coronavirus taking the toll to 6,744.
