By the time the citizen and health authorities heaved a sigh of relief over the drastic decline in the corona cases across the country, the festive season came as a new challenge while the coronagraph recorded a steady hike.
On Sunday, Coronavirus cases in India rose by 45,209 in the last 24 hours taking the total number of infections in the country to 90.95 lakh. As per the health bulletin released, 501 deaths were reported in the last day taking the total fatalities due to the deadly disease to over 1.33 lakh.
Over 43,000 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to over 85 lakh. The positivity rate stands at 4.2 per cent while the total recovery rate is 93.68 per cent.
Several states have decided to bring in curfew during the night in districts witnessing a spike in the cases of the coronavirus disease among other measures to contain the spread of infections.
Delhi, on the other hand, Delhi, logged in the highest number of cases in 24 hours with 5,879 cases. The capital also saw 111 deaths in a day, the highest in the country in 24 hours.
