YTP president Sharmila is aggressively taking the Kaleswaram project corruption case forward. A complaint was filed with the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) in Delhi. Sharmila said that the Kaleswaram project is expected to be completed at a cost of Rs.38 thousand crores and 16 lakh acres will be given water. She further mentioned that unlike what is said, the project cost has now increased to Rs.1.20 lakh crore and the area has increased by only 2 lakh acres. She alleged that there was massive corruption at every stage of the project.
She said that there was corruption in every package, and the contracts were given to non-panel companies. Sharmila said that there is a huge difference between the price shown by the government for the purchase of motors from BHEL. She later revealed that CAG has promised to investigate the matter. Sharmila added that this investigation will be done independently. It has been explained that they have assured that a special team will also be appointed, along with auditors, and irrigation experts will also investigate the matter.
Sharmila said that only if someone complains about corruption, an investigation would take place, and that’s why she has been meeting the investigating agencies. “Along with Kaleswaram, there was also corruption in Mission Bhagiratha. Regarding Kaleswaram, loans of one lakh crores were taken from banks, Rs 30 thousand crores were taken from Power Finance Corporation. Rs 30 thousand crores have been brought for rural electrification and Rs 12 thousand crores from NABARD. This is not a state-level scam, this is the biggest scam in India,” stated Sharmila.
Sharmila said that CAG can also audit the state expenses and that this is not just a paper money scam. She alleged that every work and every project in Telangana is corrupt. She further criticized CM KCR for his involvement in the Kaleshwaram project corruption. Sharmila alleged that KCR himself acted as the minister of the audit department in the state, and Megha is also involved in it.
Talking about the Munugodu by-elections, she called a boycott of the by-polls. “This is not an election for the people. This is murdering democracy. People should boycott the elections on behalf of YTP,” saying this, she also talked about the murder of her uncle YS Vivekananda Reddy. She demanded strict action against whoever committed the murder. She demanded the authorities find out the real killers.
