In a horrifying incident, a 15-year-old girl in Maharashtra’s Thane district was gang-raped by 29 people including two minors. The girl was reportedly raped multiple times for several months between January and September. The incident came to the limelight after the girl registered a complaint at the Manpada police at Dombivli in Kalyan naming 29 accused.
As per the complaint registered, the accused had been using videos of the repeated assault to blackmail and rape her again. While the survivor has named a total of 33 people in the FIR, the Additional Commissioner of Police, Dattatray Karale stated that 22 of the accused were arrested and are on the lookout for others.
The FIR was registered on Wednesday night under sections 376 (rape), 376 (n) (repeated rape), 376 (d) (gang-rape), 376 (3) (rape on a woman under sixteen years of age) of the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the ACP said. All the accused persons are aged between 16 and 23.
