With factors like 100 per cent pass in State Board Class 12 results and declining interest in engineering, admissions in government junior colleges in the state are witnessing an unexpected rush. Government junior colleges in Telangana registered record-level admissions with over 1,00,685 students in 405 colleges for the 2021-22 academic year.
Parents reluctant to join their children in private colleges which hiked the fee during the pandemic was opined to be one of the prime reasons behind the development. Out of the 1,00,685 applications received, 18,144 are vocational students and 82,541 are general students. The colleges in Greater Hyderabad witnessed a high enrollment of students.
Falaknuma Junior College has the highest number of 2,550 students. Students were observed to take admissions in CEC group.
