The way in which the Telangana government is handling the adjustment of the IAS officers in the state has turned debatable in recent times. Chief Minister KCR, who often complains to the Center over the shortage of IAS in the state, has been criticized for failing miserably in utilizing the ones waiting for postings.
While over 12 officers are waiting for the postings, it was learned that the CMO is deliberately holding back deputing eligible officials with additional charges. A few of the officials are reportedly waiting for nine months. Medchal Malkajgiri district collector Vasam Venkateshwarlu, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district collector Anitha Ramachandran and Bhupalpally district collector Abdul Azeem are a few of such officials waiting for posting.
Collectors like Swetha Mohanty, on the other hand, are given additional responsibilities to look after Medchal. Apart from this, the state government has not appointed full-time heads for crucial departments. Official sources said while the allocated posts for the state are 208 officers, only 136 IAS officers are working in different capacities.
