In the wake of court speeding up the hearing cases against the MPs and public representatives, former MP Payam Venkateshwarulu has been jailed for 6 months. The leader was also sentenced to 6 month-jail and a fine of Rs 10,000 was imposed.
The court gave the verdict stating that the allegations of money laundering in the elections were proven true. To recollect, the case was registered against Payam Venkateshwarulu in 2018 at Ashwapuram police station. As per the court’s order, Payam paid a fine of Rs 10,000. However, the leader was given an opportunity to go to the appeal, suspending the sentence.
Meanwhile, the case against Chief Whip Dassam Vinay Bhaskar was dismissed by the House of Representatives. The case was registered in the past alleging that Dassam violated the election code.
