Tensions ran high in Maharastra with the arrest of Union Minister Narayan Rane over his comment on slapping Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
Rane who is currently touring the state as a part of ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ made the comments during a rally in Chiplun. The BJP leader claimed that the Maharastra CM forgot the year of independence during his August 15 address to the people of the state.

A team of senior police officers met Narayan Rane and later completed the arrest formalities under dramatic circumstances while a large number of his supporters opposed the arrest.
An aide to the central minister Pramod Jathar, on the other hand, claimed that no arrest warrant has been produced and the police pleaded that they were under ‘pressure’ to arrest Rane.
Rane was taken to the Sangameshwar police station after being taken into custody, the official said. There were reports that the BJP leader complained of high blood pressure and sugar levels and a doctor was called to examine him.
