Amid the tough times for the party on the national and state levels, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has said that there should be unity at all levels of the party. She declared that the revival of the party was important not only for themselves but also for democracy and understanding.
This message was indirectly sent to the G-23 leaders as a meeting venue. Talking about the ways to do this, she said that she had received many suggestions on how to strengthen the parties. She stated about considering most of those ideas and making observations on many of them. “We know how frustrated you all are with the results of the recent Assembly elections. The results are shocking and painful. The way forward for the party now is more challenging than ever. Our dedication, our determination, our inspiration is being severely tested,” said Sonia.
Further, she severely criticized the BJP for distorting the country’s history. The ruling party said its leaders were in the news politically in several states with their divisive agenda. She said that the BJP is manipulating not only ancient history but also contemporary history. She added that the fictional stories were being created to further fuel their party’s (BJP) political agenda.
On a whole, Sonia called out on everyone to stand up and fight against this hostile, partisan attitude. Further mentioned that she will not allow the BJP party to taint the bonds of friendship and harmony that have sustained and enriched our diverse society for centuries.
