Political assimilations in Telangana Congress has been changing after state unit president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy resigned owning moral responsibility for the party’s defeat in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections.
While the senior leader in his resignation letter requested the All India Congress Committee to take up the process of selection of a new president for the Telangana Congress Committee immediately, the spotlight now landed on Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy.
Adding strength to the speculations in state political circles from the past few weeks, the two divisions which Congress won in GHMC polls- A S Rao Nagar and Uppal falling in Malkajgiri, represented by Revanth.
Demands to appoint Revanth Reddy as the TPCC chief took momentum after Congress suffered a quilting defeat in Dubbaka by-polls. Pointing out that Uttam brought bad luck to the party, the agitated Congress workers reportedly met with the party high command to appoint working president A Revanth Reddy as the new chief.
Further, Revanth Reddy’s shedding blood, sweat and tears for for both Dubbaka and GHMC polls left the high command with no other choice. However, there are a few other senior leaders in the league anticipating for the chief post.
