We see politicians reaching to difficult-to-reach, remote places to reach out to the public but have you ever seen a minister climb up a coconut tree to address people..? This startling incident took place in Sri Lanka as the State Minister of Coconut Arundika Fernando climbed a coconut tree to convey the message on the shortage of coconuts.
Not only this, the minister also held a video conference from the top of a coconut tree, videos of which are now going viral on social media. Speaking to reporters from atop the coconut tree, he said the price of coconuts has increased due to the demand for coconuts related products world over.

Into details, the minister climbed the tree at his home garden in Dankotuwa with the help of a tree-climbing machine. It was further revealed that the minister wanted to test the machine himself which will be released in the local markets in the coming months. Sources revealed that it took a great effort for the State Minister’s supporters to get him out of the coconut tree climbing contraption.
Battered by coronavirus crisis, the coconut prices in the country fell as low as 38,215 for 1,000 nuts when auctions resumed on April 09 after a break due to the lockdown.
