In the wake of state government’s decision to shift the capital to Visakhapatnam, Chief Minister Jagan’s visit to the city on Monday took prominence. Jagan is to attend the annual ceremony of Sri Sarada Peetham in Chinamushidiwada of Pendurthi mandal in the district. Sources also revealed that Jagan and his team would tour the city to pay a visit to the government lands favourable for the secretariat and other department offices. On this note, the Vizag police have taken prior precautions with a series of arrests of CPM leaders.

With the information that CPM leaders have planned to hold a protest in the wake of allegations that the government has pooled over 6,116 acres of land in Visakhapatnam district, the police have tightened the security to avoid untoward incidents. The information has it that CMP leaders prepared to block Chief Minister’s convoy on its way to Sri Sarada Peetham. Tension rose high in Pendurthi where the arrested CPM leaders sat down for protest in the police station itself. The leaders demanded to resolve the land issues in five villages and withdraw the land pooling decision immediately.
