In a shocking revelation, Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest such structure appeared on the online market place on OLX. According to the ad put on OLX, the 182-meter long statue which has attracted lakhs of tourists across the world was put up for sale at Rs 30,000 crore.
Prompted by the ad, Kevadiya police station official registered an FIR on the unknown person who placed an advertisement on Saturday. “The specific ad stated that the seller needs to sell the Statue of Unity to meet the requirement of money to buy hospitals and healthcare equipment,” said an official at Kevadiya police station.
The incident came to limelight after a local Gujarati newspaper ran an article about the online ad. A cheating and forgery case was registered under IPC, Epidemic Diseases Act and Information Technology Act. “Defaming the government and misleading the people were the intentions behind the ad,” stated a release from the chief administrator of the Statue of Unity. Responding to the complaint registering, OLX put down the ad from the website.
