Jacob Lindenthal. This 24-year-old German citizen has been garning tremendous support from the student groups from across the country. Jacob is the exchange student from from Technische Universität, Germany who was to complete his second semester with the Physics department in IIT Madras. The name hit the social media while the Indian immigration department issued notices to the student who was later forcefully sent back to his country on an abrupt note. The reason behind has triggered flak from the students who took to social media to shower him support. With the anti-CAA protests taking violent form with each passing day, Jacob who already used to have an active part in university activities joined the protest held in his campus against the government.
“1933 to 1945; We Have Been There,” read the placard held by Jacob which ended by with the immigration officials forcing him to leave the country stating that his activities were beyond the allowed activities as per his visa. While Jacob is yet to complete another semester as part of the exchange programme, Jacob left the country leaving an emotional message to his friends that he might come back. On this note, various students groups came to the support of Jacob on social media. Besides students, a number of Opposition leaders too condemned the detention.
It shows our sick mindset to deport foreign students like Jakob Lindenthal, MS exchange student from Germany in department of Physics at IIT Madras for his participation in the anti CAA protests.
If Germany reacts, what the hell Indians will do there? #NRC_CAA_Protest @naukarshah pic.twitter.com/xLWX9h3OAU

If I were the Vice Chancellor of #JadavpurUniversity, I would go to any length to ensure that brave and courageous student from Germany, who was asked to leave IIT Madras, comes back to India again and studies in JU only.
A German, who fought for Indians, is an asset to India.

India should thank Jakob Lindenthal, the German student who has tried to warn Indians, though he didn’t have to.
Instead, he’s been asked to leave India. #CAA_NRC_Protest

We vehemently oppose the deportation of Jakob Lindenthal, a German exchange student of IIT-Madras. His only fault was participating in peaceful protests against NRC & CAA. Govt officials didn’t disclose their names.
Imagine if the West starts doing the same to Indian students.
