Supreme Court on Wednesday gave a ‘colourful’ jolt to Jagan-led government. Issuing orders to remove the blue, green and white colours associated with the ruling YSRCP, the apex court expressed discontentment on the state government over turning a blind eye on High Court’s orders.
While almost all the panchayat offices, Anganwadi and school buildings, water tanks and several other public buildings were painted with YRSCP colours, the Supreme Court gave four weeks of span for the government to remove all the colours.
Dismissing the petition filed by the Jagan government, a bench headed by Justice Lavu Nageshwar Rao warned the government of taking action under contempt if the government didn’t follow the above instruction before the given time.
Besides the money spent to paint, recolouring them now will pile up the financial burden on the government which has been in a financial crunch.
