In a rude shock to Jagan-led Andhra Pradesh state government, the Supreme Court on Monday refused to squash the stay orders issued by the state High Court over the issue of Distribution of house site pattas to the poor.
Upholding the High Court’s decision, the apex court dismissed the YSRCP Government’s petition to pause the distribution of Amaravati Capital City lands as house sites to the poor families. The Supreme Court also instructed the State Government to settle the matter in the High Court categorically considering the merits of the case. SC further posted the hearing for Wednesday.
It can be noted that Jagan Government issued a GO No 107 allocating thousands of house site plots to poor families in the 34,000 acres lands. This move drew flak from the Amaravati farmers who moved the High Court against the orders issued by the government on R5 in this regard.
While the High Court dismissed the orders issued by the state government and issued stay until the probe is completed, Andhra Pradesh government has approached the Supreme Court challenging the stay imposed by the High Court. It is to the known knowledge that the High Court has extended the status quo on Capital shifting till August 27.
