The APSEC fiasco has been taking interesting twist ever since it the Supreme court steps. While the High Court has ruled that Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar should be reinstated, the apex court on Friday denied stay on Contempt of Court proceedings.
Expressing discontent over the on-going scenarios, the Supreme Court also made some shocking comments on the Jagan-led state government and the officials. Stating that it has deliberately refused to give a stay, the CJI made it clear that the court is aware of everything going on in connection with the case.
Further, the Supreme Court had issued notices to appoint back Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as the APSEC by July 31st. It is to the known knowledge that more than 13 petitions were filed challenging the government’s decision to remove Ramesh Kumar while Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan approved the ordinance, amending the AP Panchayat Raj Act, 1994.
Hearing a batch of petitions, HC termed the ordinance unconstitutional and ordered the reinstatement of Ramesh Kumar as SEC. While the state government moved the Supreme Court challenging HC’s decision, the apex court refused to stay the HC orders and observed that the Andhra Pradesh government cannot play with constitutional functionary.
