Bombay high court on Wednesday granted bail to Rhea Chakraborty, the main accused in the drug cartel in connection with actor Sushant Sigh Rajput’s death. Accepting her bail petition, the court instructed Rhea to submit ₹ 1 lakh as bond and mark her presence daily at the nearest police station for 10 days after her release.
She also has to hand over her passport and cannot travel abroad without the court’s permission. Rajput’s house manager Samuel Miranda and his house staffer Dipesh Sawant were also granted bail upon the furnishing of PR bonds of Rs 50,000 each.
However, the court refused to accept the bail petition filed by Rhea’s brother Showik’s who is one of the prime accused being investigated by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Further, the HC also refused bail to one more co-accused and alleged peddler, Abdel Basit Parihar.
A single bench of Justice Sarang V. Kotwal had reserved orders on the bail applications on September 29, after a marathon hearing which lasted from 11 am till about 7 pm.
The Narcotics Control Bureau stepped into the Sushant Singh Rajput investigations when WhatsApp chats retrieved from Rhea Chakraborty’s phone revealed alleged conversations involving the procuring of drugs.
It can be recalled that top actresses Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh were also summoned over the alleged connection with drug peddlers.
