Days after the massive fire accident in a COVID-19 facility in Vijayawada that claimed 10 lives, the Krishna district administration has revoked the recognition given to Dr Ramesh Hospitals to treat COVID-19 patients.
District collector AMD Imtiaz issued orders revoking the ‘Category A’ COVID license given to the hospital to treat COVID patients.
The move came hours after the five-member inquiry committee constituted to look into the consequences that to the fire accident submitted their preliminary report. Accordingly, the hospital should not admit any COVID patient for medical treatment until further orders, clarified the collector.
Stating that both Ramesh Hospitals and Swarna Palace authorities failed in taking necessary precautionary measures in the facility set for COVID patients, the inquiry panel noted that the hospital was overcharging patients. Further, it was learnt that the hospital staff had been ill-treating the patients.
Krishna district DMHO has also issued notices to the hospital management to appear before him on August 30 and give written explanation on the allegations.
