The pandemic has come as a major jolt to Indian cinema industry while thousands of films across the nation were shelved or paused due to the lockdown imposed. Despite the union government lifting the restrictions for both shootings and theatres, things are not the same for the industry owing to various reasons like no releases, advent of OTT e.t.c.
Further, the unexpected corona break came a think tank for the filmmakers as many announced their projects and hit the sets immediately after the government gave a nod. Reportedly, the small budgeted films like ‘Uppena’ and other mega projects which are on the last leg of the shoot are looking for 100 per cent occupancy for theatres.
On the other hand, prestigious films like Megastar’s ‘Acharya’ and Prabhas’ ‘Radhe Shyam’ which are scheduled for summer release have postponed their slots to Dasara 2021. Mahesh Babu’s most awaited project ‘Sarkar Vaari Paata’ as well will hit the marque in Dasara season.
Further, Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa’ too aimed at Dasara 2021 release giving a tough fight for the other big-budgeted films. Seems like the 2020 Sankranthi scenario will repeat on the coming Dasara season when all top heroes competed for the release on the same day while a few compromised and stepped back.
