Tensions peaked up in Nimmada with Srikakulam police arresting former minister and TDP president Atchannaidu on Tuesday. The leader along with twelve others was arrested for threatening YSRCP candidate while filing nomination as Sarpanch candidate.
It is learnt that TDP leaders have recently attacked Kinjarapu Appanna, who is contesting as Nimmada Sarpanch candidate. It can be noted that Atchannaidu previously called his nephew Appanna and threatened him not to file the nomination. While Appanna refused, TDP activists and followers of Atchannaidu reportedly reached to Appanna’s home preventing him from filing the nomination.
However, Appanna finally filed the nomination with the police escort and registered a complaint against Atchnnaidu and 20 of his followers based on which police so far arrested 13 members. TDP supremo Chandrababu condemned the leader’s arrest and demanded that Atchennaidu should be released unconditionally immediately.
The situation heated up with YSRC leader and member of Rajya Sabha V Vijayasai Reddy’s visit scheduled in the town.
