Telangana Chief Minister KCR called on CM Stalin in Chennai In Chennai on Tuesday. While both the CMOs refused to disclose the agenda of the meeting, speculation went rife that the visit is a part of attempts to revive his plans to float a non-BJP and non-Congress national-level political alliance for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
KCR was accompanied by his wife Shobha, son and minister K.T. Rama Rao, daughter-in-law Shailima, Rajya Sabha member Joginapally Santosh Kumar, grandchildren and others.The meeting assumes significance in the wake of the TRS government’s ongoing row with the BJP government at the Centre on the issue of paddy procurement. Both KCR and Stalin have maintained good ties for the past few years.
The TRS chief met Stalin in 2019 as part of his efforts to bring regional parties’ under one umbrella to form a federal front. KCR had then met Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee too, but the plan didn’t take off.
