Hours after Telangana High Court on Thursday pulled up the state government for the rising number of COVID-19 cases among the medicos serving on the frontline, the cardiology services at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) has suspended services.
According to the reports, five more doctors from the department-four PG and one faculty tested positive for Covid-19, a day after four PG doctors from the department had tested positive for the dreadful novel virus. Which a turned the main concern is that one of the senior doctors in the gastroenterology department tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday.
Speaking over the same, NIMS superintendent Dr N Satyanarayana told Express that the cardiology department’s services would be suspended and the building housing it thoroughly sanitised. With Cardiology being one of the biggest departments at NIMS with over 200 staff tensions ran high amongst faculty and PG doctors of other departments who came in contact with the infected doctors.
