In the wake of an increasing number of corona positive cases taking a huge hike in Telangana, frontline warriors who have been fighting a relentless battle are falling prey to the government’s negligence. Taking the total tally of medicos who turned positive to the novel viral infection, three more Postgraduate (PG) medicos from the Osmania Medical College (OMC) have tested positive on Tuesday.
According to the reports from health authorities, three PG medicos from Microbiology, Dermatology and General Surgery departments working in the Maternity Government Hospital, Petlaburj and Fever Hospital were found to be infected. Upon which the Osmania authorities called for an emergency meeting and decided to run tests on almost 280 PG medicos living in hostels on the OMC campus at Koti. Nearly 100 male and 180 female medicos will be under the scanner now for virus symptoms while 58 medicos already tested negative.
Addressing the same, Telangana Junior Doctors Association president Kadali Uma Nagendra Vishnu stated that it has become difficult for the authorities to ascertain the source of infection as all the doctors have been discharging duties in various State hospitals and are getting exposed to all kind of patients.
“We are not testing the patients for Covid-19 before giving them treatment. So, there is no way of finding out the source of infection,” TJUDA members said. On the note, the medicos also raised concerns over the crunch in PPEs and N-95 masks.
