Harish Rao has completed a year as the Minister of Health. On this occasion, he released the development report for the year on Sunday. He mentioned that Telangana has been recognized by NITI Aayog as the 3rd state providing the best medical services in the country.
He said that Telangana has become the third state with the lowest MMR rate by reducing the maternal mortality rate to 43 percent. The infant mortality rate in the state was 39 in 2014 and has been reduced to 21 at present. The report stated that 8 medical colleges will be made available and 9 more new medical colleges will be made available during the year.
He said that currently 19 MBBS and 7 postgraduate seats are available for every lakh population in the state. He said that there are four super specialty hospitals all over Hyderabad and another super specialty hospital is being constructed in Warangal. He said that steps have been taken to increase the number of beds in Nims Hospital from 1489 to 3489.
As part of Telangana Diagnostics, it has been revealed that more than one crore medical tests have been done for free. He said that there are T Diagnostics Hubs in 22 districts of the state and steps have been taken to make them available in 13 more districts soon. He said that 13.91 lakh people have benefited through the KCR kit.
