
In a proud moment to Telugites, Chief Justice of India S A Bobde on Wednesday recommended Justice N V Ramana, the senior-most judge in the apex court after him, as his successor.
Sources have it that CJI Bobde today handed over a copy of the letter of recommendation to his successor Justice Ramana after sending it to the Centre.
While Chief Justice Bobde is set to retire on April 23, the CJI reported suggested NV Ramana’s name as Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad last week asked the former to recommend his successor.

The judge, who is from an agricultural family in Andhra Pradesh, was appointed as a permanent judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court in June 2000.
Born on August 27, 1957, Justice Ramana has a tenure till August 26, 2022. As the seniormost Supreme Court judge, Ramana is the current Chairperson of NALSA.
