“Everything is fair in love and war,” said a famous poet. Had he come across Maharastra politics, the poet would have included ‘politics’ in his saying. While the Nation along with the ‘Maha’ Shiv Sena-Congress-NCP alliance heaved a sigh of relief as they decided upon the technicalities of the alliance announcing Uddhav Thackeray would be the new Chief Minister of the state, heading a government of their alliance. In a dramatic move, the nation woke up to the sworn in news of BJP leader and former Chief Minister of the sate Devendra Fadnavis. In an official ceremony held at Raj Bhavan on Saturday, Devendra assumed the office as Chief Minister while Ajit Pawar, of the National Congress Party, took the oath as deputy CM.
Hours after the celebrations started at the Shiv Sena offices across the state, the news of BJP taking over the reign came as a jolt to the ‘Maha’ alliance. What happened overnight? While the nation is still in splits of why the NCP supremo Sharad Pawar who is claimed to be one of the loyalists of Sonia, he dropped a tweet which shocked everyone including Shiv Sena. NCP chief Sharad Pawar said his nephew Ajit Pawar’s decision to ally with the BJP was a “personal” one and not taken by the party. Taking to Twitter, he said, “Ajit Pawar’s decision to support the BJP to form the Maharashtra Government is his personal decision and not that of the Nationalist Congress Party. We place on record that we do not support or endorse this decision of his.”

It was evident that Nationalist Congress Party has split from the middle in the Maharastra’s political war. Sharad Pawar’s daughter and senior NCP leader Supriya Sule has confirmed the same with her WhatsApp status which read ‘Party and family split.’ While a few of the political analysts claim this move to be a backstab, close source revealed shocking facts that Sharad is well aware of the scenarios going on. Ajit Pawar’s statement that all NCP MLAs with him as Sharad Pawar distances NCP from his move has added fuel to the issue. Meanwhile, the new CM’s Twitter post on 26 September 2014 which says BJp will never have an alliance with NCP is going viral on social media.
