This year the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is on the offensive. In 2022, the NIA registered charges in a maximum of 73 cases. Last year NIA registered 61 cases. Compared to last year, 19.67 percent more cases have been reported this year.
NIA was started after the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai. Since then, this is the first time that such cases have been registered. Among these cases, there are 35 jihadi cases. The NIA has registered cases of jihadi terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, Assam, Delhi, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, and Karnataka.
The Popular Front of India (PFI) case is one of the biggest cases taken up by the NIA this year. It has attacked three times since September this year. NIA conducted raids in all 200 areas. NIA arrested 100 people belonging to PFI.
This year it has filed 59 charge sheets against a total of 368 people. 456 accused have been detained by NIA. There are 19 suspects in it. NIA brought two accused and one accused to their home country and arrested them on deportation.
