In a nail-biting poll counting process, Democratic candidate Joe Biden defeats Republican President Donald Trump to be the 46th President Of United States. According to the Indian standard time, Joe announced the next President with an electoral college vote to take him past the critical 270-mark.
“Now is the time to heal. The people of this nation have spoken. They have delivered us a clear victory, a convincing victory,” Biden said in his winning speech from the parking lot in his home town of Wilmington, Delaware.
Biden’s running mate Kamala Harris has scripted history by becoming first woman, Black and Indian-American Vice President-elect of the United States. With this, Harris has become the highest-ranking woman in US history. “New day for America,” she said as she opened a victory speech on Saturday with President-elect Joe Biden.
Presidential incumbent Donald Trump, on the other hand, has insisted that he would appeal to the courts, with a view to instigate a recount or have the election result overturned. It can be noted that his legal team has already filed a number of lawsuits in several states.
President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris are expected to speak at a motorcade rally in Wilmington, Delaware soon.
