Back to back heavy rains triggered by a series of depressions in the Bay of Bengal over the last fortnight have battered Tirumala, the holy abode of Lord Venkateswara. As per the official information, over 7,000 devotees who reserved their Dharshan have canceled their trip off while nearly 15,000 devotees were stranded at Tirumala in the last 24 hours.
EO Dr. KS Jawahar Reddy who inspected the ongoing restoration works at Second Ghat road on Friday appealed to the pilgrims not to believe in fake videos which are made rounds on Tirumala since Thursday. “Once the boulders are cleared, we will open the road. But some miscreants are creating unnecessary panic among pilgrims by posting incorrect videos. We have taken all safety measures for devotees who were stranded both at Tirupati and also in Tirumala,” he stated.
