The Tollywood drug cartel which has been rattling the industry has taken an interesting turn on Tuesday with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Hyderabad questioning director Puri Jagannadh for nearly 10 hours. As ED issued summons to 12 celebrities recently, Puri attended the trial along with his CA Sridhar in connection with the drugs-related money laundering case.
In the long enquires, Puri has reportedly faced several crucial questions over his relationship with actors who are also linked with the case. The director also reportedly forwarded all the bank details of his 3 accounts with its transactions from 2015.
Actor-turned-producer Bandla Ganesh arriving at the ED office raised new doubts as reports claimed that Puri mentioned the former’s name in the enquiring over their affiliation with two movies. However, Bandla later clarified that he came to the ED office only to meet his friend Jagannadh but was not allowed.
The ED has asked producer Charmme Kaur to appear for questioning on September 2, while Rana Daggubati and Ravi Teja have been called on September 8, and 9, respectively. Rakul will see the officers in Hyderabad on September 6. Others who have been called are Navadeep, Mumaith Khan, and Tanish.
The drugs racket was busted on July 2, 2017, when customs officials arrested Calvin Mascarenhas, a musician, and two others and seized drugs valued at Rs 30 lakh from their possession.
