BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao, who was on his way to start development work in the Siddipet district, was stopped by TRS activists. He went to the inauguration of a mini vegetable market in Gudikandula village in the Thoguta zone of the district. activists blocked MLA’s convoy, demanding a reduction in the hike in diesel, petrol, and gas prices by the Center.
TRS leaders and activists held placards across the road to protest with advance notice of the MLA’s arrival. This created a tense situation between the BJP and the TRS in the market area. The slogan was that the central government should buy the grains harvested by the Telangana farmers.
They demanded to give the fifty double-bedroom houses built in the village to the poor. Upon learning of the incident, the police rushed to the spot and tried to bring the two groups apart. Later, MLA Raghunandan Rao along with party workers staged a dharna at Miruddi police station.
The MLA and his supporters further chanted slogans to suspend the CIs and SIs deployed in the station. He alleged that he was obstructed by TRS activists due to police negligence. Raghunandan Rao alleged that the police had to protect him if he came under their purview as an MLA.
