Hyderabad: Though it was supposed to be a deadlocked fight between Congress, TRS and BJP, the ruling party gabbed the Huzurnagar assembly seat from the Congress party with a majority of over 43,000 votes. In the by-polls held on Thursday, TRS candidate S. Saidi Reddy tasted success, defeating his nearest opponent State Congress president and party MP Uttam Kumar Reddy’s wife Nalamada Padmavathi Reddy with 74,638 votes. Though it was speculated that CPI withdrawing its support and TSRTC strike would hinder the victory of TRS, the party came out successfully. On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) forfeited their deposit. This has, however, weakened the chances of BJP winning in Telangana in the coming assembly elections.
