While the devotees are to still wait till the lockdown ends for the divine darshan of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala, TTD Trust Board, the governing body of the temple dropped good news on Thursday. Followed by a meeting, the TTD management has decided to begin the distribution of the famous Sri Vari laddu to the devotees on a discounted price.
According to the recent announcement made, the 175-gram laddu costing ₹50, will now be available at ₹25 till the lockdown ends. Laddu prasad will be made available in all the district headquarters and major towns of the State where the TTD has information centres along with Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru. Bulk orders can also be booked.
“We have been receiving emails and phones on when we would resume darshan. But it all depends on the government’s decision of lifting lockdown,” TTD Trust Board Chairman Y.V Subba Reddy said over reopening the holy shrine for devotees.
Meanwhile, clarifying on the reports of cash crunch in the TTD and that it is not even in a position to pay wages to its employees, Dharma Reddy said the TTD has its own financial strength. “As and when the TTD needs money, we draw it from the short-term FDs and TTD does not need to withdraw money from long-term FDs,” he explained.
