After being sacked for making controversial allegations over financial irregularities in the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) last year, the trust on Tuesday has reinstated former chief priest Dr A V Ramana Deekshitulu. Known to be one of the influential people in TTD, Deekshithulu who stood as the centre for controversies for many days, has gained access into the trust as a member of the TTD Agama Advisory Committee. Along with four other former chief priests who were appointed, Deekshithulu will now have all the privileges equal to the archakas or priests.
His re-appointment followed by the abrupt transfer of LV Subrahmanyam who belongs to the same community has now triggered debates in political circles. During his tenure, Ramana Deekshitulu has openly stated his affiliation with YSR and his family which was rumoured to be one of the reasons for being sacked. However, Deeshitulu regaining his power in TTD has proved that the government takes no qualms to support their kin and kit which is now welcoming criticism.
