Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy landed himself in a religious controversy after refusing to light a lamp to mark the inauguration of an event in Dallas during his ongoing US trip. Opposition parties are not leaving this chance to ridicule the CM. Despite the clarification given by the State government representative that it was an electric lamp in a secured conference hall where no fire is allowed, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) objected to his alleged act.
BJP leaders Sunil Deodhar and CM Ramesh took to Twitter to share the video that went viral, while the official BJP Andhra Pradesh handle retweeted it. The video shows Jagan refusing to light a lamp before the inauguration of a program. CM Ramesh claimed that Jagan insulted Hindus by refusing to perform Jyothi Prajwalana. BJP AP’s twitter handle went on to point out that Jagan’s temple visits prior to elections were only for votes and he is akin to Rahul Gandhi in this regard. They went ahead adding that Jagan cheated AP voters by trying to convince everyone that he respects Hindu culture and traditions.
On the other hand, Margani Bharat, who claims to be an eye witness to the event, clarified through his tweet that it was an electric lamp as no fire was allowed in the hall due to security protocol. Kadapa Ratnakar, president of NRI YSRCP wing has also hit back the comments made by CM Ramesh.
