Like it happened during the early days of vaccination from 2020 to 2021, a similar incident took place in Bihar’s Nalanda district. Indian Government recently initiated a vaccination drive for teenagers. Tension among authorities has begun when Covishield was given to teens instead of Covaxin (as per the rules).
This vaccination center was set up by the government in order to accelerate vaccination amongst teenagers. This was an exclusively set up vaccine distribution center organized by the state authorities. Victims who went for vaccination are Kishore Piyush Ranjan and Aryan Kiran. They are siblings from the same area and were vaccinated by paramedics.
Kishore and Aryan acknowledged that they were given doses of Covishield, instead of Covaxin. This incident came to light after both brothers took matters to their father Priyanjan’s attention, who later complained to superiors.
Priyaranjan was fuming with anger after noticing that they were given doses of Covishield, but the same was mentioned as Covaxin on the certification document.
Officials who conducted this drive said that the staff who acted negligently were being suspended.
