The Union Home Ministry has focused on resolving disputes between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The Union Home Ministry has already written a letter to the AP and Telangana Chief Secretaries. They were asked to attend a meeting to be held today on partition issues and disputes between the two states. As part of this, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla will hold a meeting with the CS’s of the two states on Wednesday.
It was originally intended to hold the conference in Delhi. However, the Union Ministry has said that the meeting will be held virtually in view of the growing number of corona cases. The meeting is expected to focus on water distribution to the two states.
The Central Government has included nine items on the agenda to be discussed at the meeting. The Union Home Ministry has put on the agenda items like Schedule 9 and 10 of the Separation Act, power arrears, AP-SFC split, Singareni Corporation, and its subsidiary Opmel split, AP Bhavan division in Delhi, tax arrears as per the Separation Act, and remaining cash deposits in bank deposits.
Apart from these, other issues will also be discussed. It seems likely that the implementation of the guarantees in the Separation Act and their progress will also be discussed. The meeting arranged by the Union Home Ministry with the Chief Secretaries of Government of the two states on the issues of partition as a whole is going to be important.
