Into details, a Delhi court on Friday sentenced the expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar to 10 years’ imprisonment in the custodial death case of Unnao rape victim’s father. Directing Kuldeep and his brother Atul Singh Sengar to pay Rs 10 lakh each as compensation to the victim’s family, District Judge Dharmesh Sharma also ordered ten years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 25, 000 on four other convicts.
While Sengar is already serving life imprisonment for raping the minor girl, the fresh verdict is over the victim’s father who died in judicial custody on April 9, 2018, after the goons of Kuldeep Singh Sengar’s brother have beaten him up. Earlier, on December 16, 2019, the court has framed charges against Sengar and Singh under IPC sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 363 (kidnapping), 366 (kidnapping or inducing a woman to compel for marriage), 376 (rape) and other relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
