While India went ahead for the world’s biggest inoculation drive, five state sin the country faced trouble on Day 1 of the vaccination drive. States like Maharashtra, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand reported 447 adverse events on the total.
In an unfortunate incident, a 46-year-old ward boy at the district hospital in UP’s Moradabad district who received a jab of Covishield died a day later following complaints of breathlessness and unease. The incident set ripples in the health circles in the country while the officials have a different story.
Followed by the postmortem report conducted by a panel of three doctors, additional chief secretary information, Navneet Sehgal, the man’s death was not related to the Covid jab. While the officials right away rejected the jab as the reason behind the ward boy’s death, the autopsy team found pus pockets in both the lungs besides noting that the cardiac muscles visibly degenerated.
They also noted that Mahipal’s death was not linked to vaccine side effects. The post mortem report, however, has revealed that the cause of death was cardiogenic shock/septicemic shock due to cardio-pulmonary disease.
