The supreme nation hits 16 million cases, the country’s pharma giant Pfizer rolled out its newly approved coronavirus vaccine batches on Monday.
As per the official information, the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine reached hospitals and other sites across the United States by Monday morning.
Stored in boxes containing dry ice that are capable of staying at -70 degrees Celsius (-94 degrees Fahrenheit), over 184,000 vials were on the first batch dispatched from the Pfizer vaccine production facility.
Health care workers and elderly people in long-term care facilities will be first in line to receive the first round of 2.9 million doses at a time when cases are surging in the United States.
White House staff will also have access to the first round of vaccines and maybe inoculated as early as this week. According to data, vaccine doses will be delivered to 150 distribution centres across the country, and an additional 450 by Wednesday.
The vaccine was first approved in Britain earlier this month, and British residents began receiving vaccinations last Tuesday. Canada also approved the vaccine and expects to begin inoculations in the coming days. Bahrain, Mexico and Saudi Arabia have also authorized the use of the Pfizer vaccine.
