Amidst the recent impeachment chaos in the White House, news that US President Donald Trump is likely to visit India for the first time after he assumed office three years back is taking rounds in global media. Though an official statement is yet to be released from either White House or PMO, sources revealed that Trump has given a nod to visit India in the second half of February. News also has it that Trump has planned to visit a couple of Indian cities. Apart from his business trips previously, this would be the first-ever visit to India though Modi has sent him a couple of invitations, including the one in 2015 as the chief guest for the Republic Day celebrations.
PMO sources revealed that Modi and Trump recently held a telephonic call which apparently had a conversation regarding the latter’s visit to India. Analysing into the prominence over the visit, the substantive focus will reportedly be on the business side of the relationship. India is ramping up its purchase of American energy and goods. It is to the known knowledge that Modi-Trump duo shared a healthy relationship which was displayed at the Houston where the two leaders endorsed each other before a massive diaspora.
