Massive fire accident in a COVID-19 facility in Vijayawada that claimed 10 lives is now under a shadow of unanswered questions. In a shocking revelation, reports revealed that only two of the 10 victims killed in the fire mishap tested positive for the virus.
Going by the patients who survived, it was evident that the hospital quarantine authorities are well are aware that only 5 out of 31 patients undergoing treatment were corona positive. Why aren’t they discharged..? Did the authorities force patients to stay under quarantine while per day charges are more than one lakh..?
It can be noted that Dr Ramesh Hospitals, one of the top hospital chains in the city hired Swarna Palace Hotel to convert it into a cover care facility. Followed by the incident, preliminary investigation revealed that the hospital was violating COVID-19 norms and overcharging the patients.
Patients confronted that they were been charged between Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 30,000 per day and revealed that there were different packages like Rs 8 lakhs per 10 days for critical patients. Which is against the state COVID norms of charging not more than Rs. 3,800 per day from a patient.
In a shocking incident, it was learnt that one of the victims who died in the fire mishap tested negative for two times but was scared to get admitted with a CT scan of lunch as a lame reason. Unfortunate, 2 out of the 10 victims were to get discharged on Monday.
Though a probe was ordered and an ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakhs was announced, the volley of unanswered questions is still haunting the fire mishap which shook the nation.
