The case of Doctor Sudhakar, the suspended government official who was recently was allegedly manhandled by the police and arrested for creating nuisance reached High Court. Instructing the officials to produce him before it, the High Court on Tuesday ordered the state government to file a counter on the allegations of not allowing the doctor’s mother to meet him.
While State Telugu Mahila president and former MLA Vangalapudi Anitha has written over the Visakhapatnam police who arrested the doctor on road half-naked, the High Court has taken the case on suo-moto cognisance. A retired Railway employee Chintha Venkateswarulu also filed a PIL urging the court to take action against the officials who thrashed the doctor in a public place.
Arguing on behalf of the government, advocate General S. Sreeram stated that a few parties are unnecessarily politicising the issue. He said that an edited video was furnished in the court and pointed out why the videos in which the doctor was seen abusing Prime Minister and Chief Minister Jagan were not submitted. The advocate also informed that the state government has already suspended a constable over the issue.
Sudhakar on Sunday was admitted to a mental hospital after doctors at the King George Hospital in Vishakapatnam said he suffered from anxiety.
