An old open well turned into death bed for as many as nine migrants while six members reportedly belonged to the same family. In a tragic incident, nine bodies including eight of migrants were found in a well near Warangal town in Telangana.
According to the local police who received information from the locals over four dead bodies floating in the well, tensions ran high as the police discovered five more bodies in the process of recovery. The incident came to limelight on Thursday while the dead include six members of a migrant family from West Bengal, two workers from Bihar and a local resident.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the family are facing tough times in the wake of corona lockdown while they pleaded their owner for accommodation in the work premises. While the police officials speculated it to be a mass suicide, doctors who performed postmortem on the dead bodies revealed some shocking facts.
Though there were no external injuries, it was revealed that suffocation is the reason for death. “Their lungs are filled with water, they drowned to death,” stated one of the doctors who performed the autopsy. The bodies, however, have mild injuries which now triggered new doubts.
