Hitting the poll campaign ahead of the Assembly elections in the state, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday led the 300-odd km journey to Purulia in a wheelchair.
Spotted with her leg in a cast, the 66-year-old Trinamool Congress chief attended her first public event while security personnel pushing her wheelchair.
Addressing the gathering, Mamata fondly called Didi by her followers gave a power-packed speech. “People’s pain is greater than my pain. I was injured in an incident and it’s my good luck that I survived. I have plaster and I cannot walk. Some thought I wouldn’t be able to step out with this broken leg,” she added.
In a blistering attack on the ruling BJP, Mamata Bharatiya lashed out the PM is incompetent, cannot run the country. To recall, Banerjee sustained injuries on her leg during a visit to Nandigram on Wednesday, where she had gone to file her nomination papers.
